Achilles Rupture

Achilles Tendon Rupture:

  1. Thompson Test: Patient is prone and the examiner squeezes the patients proximal 1/3 of calf and plantarflexion shoulder occur.  A + test is no plantarflexion.

Despite this examination being widely accepted for the diagnosis of achilles ruptures, we were unable to locate research assessing the validity of this test.
