I recently discovered that proposed Texas legislation, HB 1263, which would allow access to patients seeking treatment by physical therapists without a referral, was voted down by the House in Texas.  Currently Texas Law requires a referral from a physician, dentist, chiropractor, podiatrist, physician assistant or advanced nurse practitioners for a patient to see a physical therapist.

I invite everyone here to participate by emailing Dr. Garcia with any questions or comments you have: president@texmed.org.  In this we can share some evidence to demonstrate why his statements are, well, a bit dated.  I have invited him to participate in a virtual discussion with Texas physical therapists, where he can share his thoughts a bit further.
